Softball Recap: Bear River Now 20-1 over Last 21 Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bear River had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Stansbury Stallions get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Bears have won 18 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bear River got a great performance from Kate Wilson as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Wilson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bella Dougals was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Luci Roche was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Bear River lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matchups.

Bear River has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 21 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Stansbury, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-12 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bear River beat the Stallions by a score of 9-0 on Friday.
