Basketball Game Preview: Broadwater Academy Vikings vs. StoneBridge Cavaliers

Broadwater Academy is 2-8 against StoneBridge since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Broadwater Academy Vikings will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the StoneBridge Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m.

Broadwater Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 56 points last Thursday, they were much more limited against Atlantic Shores Christian on Monday. They took a 36-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Seahawks. The loss was the Vikings' first of the season.

Despite their loss, Broadwater Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Leah Smith, who posted seven points and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kacey Ford, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, StoneBridge put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past TEACH Homeschool, posting a 68-16 win.

Having lost for the first time this season, Broadwater Academy fell to 2-1. As for StoneBridge, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Broadwater Academy ended up a good deal behind StoneBridge when the teams last played back in February, losing 49-32. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of StoneBridge's Mikaylah Telfer, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
