Softball Recap: James Monroe Yellow Jackets vs. Caroline Cavaliers
James Monroe extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-10 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Caroline Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-3 back in April.
As for Caroline, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. Considering they have won seven matches by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Caroline's part, Jaidyn Tingen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Tingen has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Caroline got a massive performance out of Rylee Chinault, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Jada Bolden was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
