Baseball Game Preview: Hickory Hornets vs. Neshannock Lancers

The Hickory Hornets will square off against the Neshannock Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Hickory came up short against Franklin and fell 9-6. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dante Evans made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Manzo, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Neshannock waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Lions.

Neshannock's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Neshannock's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hickory, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Hickory came out on top in a nail-biter against Neshannock in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
