Softball Recap: Mundelein's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

If Mundelein was riding high fresh off their 18-0 takedown of Lake Forest on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs fell just short of the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees by a score of 7-6 on Wednesday. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Emily Courtney was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kieley Tomas, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Mundelein's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Zion-Benton, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mundelein will welcome Niles West at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Zion-Benton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Forest at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
