Softball Recap: Five Straight Road Wins for Buckeye

Buckeye's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the North Olmsted Eagles with a sharp 11-1 win. Considering the Bucks have won five contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kwynn Czerwony made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kelsey Morano, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Casandra Minarchick, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Buckeye kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Olmsted only managed one hit.

Buckeye pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for North Olmsted, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Buckeye will host Bay at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Olmsted, they will square off against Rocky River at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
