Volleyball Game Preview: Trinity Shamrocks vs. Lafayette Generals

The Trinity Shamrocks will challenge the Lafayette Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Trinity is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Henry Clay, who was ranked fifth at the time (Trinity was ranked second). The Shamrocks were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Blue Devils on Tuesday.

While Trinity might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Henry Clay scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Lafayette entered their tilt with Tates Creek on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Commodores 3-0.

Lafayette not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Tates Creek between 19 and 20 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20, 25-19.

Trinity's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Lafayette, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8.

Everything went Trinity's way against Lafayette in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Trinity made off with a 3-0 victory. Do the Shamrocks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
