Football Game Preview: Clinton Maroons vs. Tremont Turks

The Clinton Maroons will venture away from home to square off against the Tremont Turks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clinton comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Clinton's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against El Paso-Gridley on Friday. They were outmatched by the Titans and fell 64-0. While losing is never fun, the Maroons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Titans are ranked 104th).

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Tremont and Eureka have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Turks fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 10-7. The Turks have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Tremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Clinton against Tremont when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 49-8 win. In that matchup, the Maroons amassed a halftime lead of 42-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
