Football Game Preview: Lamar Texans vs. Wisdom Generals

The Lamar Texans will face off against the Wisdom Generals at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wisdom took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lamar, who comes in off a win.

Lamar is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Westside 62-14. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-7.

Lamar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Larry Sanders, who rushed for 111 yards and one TD. Sanders really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Robins, who threw for 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lamar was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, Wisdom fell victim to Heights and their airtight defense on Saturday. They were dealt a 49-0 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Generals' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

The win made it two in a row for Lamar and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 21 points in those games. As for Wisdom, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Lamar against Wisdom in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 45-0 win. Will the Texans repeat their success, or do the Generals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
