Basketball Recap: Las Vegas Takes a Loss

Las Vegas lost against Spring Valley back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Las Vegas Wildcats were dealt a 69-29 defeat at the hands of the Spring Valley Grizzlies. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Las Vegas saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sariyah Johnson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last eight games she's played.

It was another big night for Mia Ervin, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten steals for Spring Valley. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckenyia Pittman, who posted four points along with nine boards and five steals.

Las Vegas' defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Spring Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6.

Las Vegas wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 58-10 loss against Bishop Gorman on the 14th. As for Spring Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-30 win against Palo Verde on the 16th.
