Softball Recap: Springfield Millers vs. North Eugene Highlanders
Springfield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 37 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-20. They came up short against the North Eugene Highlanders, falling 21-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, with their most recent loss being a 19-0 defeat on Friday.
As for North Eugene, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. The result was nothing new for North Eugene, who have now won 12 games by ten runs or more so far this season.
For North Eugene's part, Gracie Hibler and Delaney McElravy made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Hibler pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, McElravy pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hibler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hibler got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI, while McElravy got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, North Eugene got a massive performance out of Camden DeWitt, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
