Baseball Recap: Brillion Wins Going Away Against Manitowoc Lutheran

Brillion had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Manitowoc Lutheran on Friday. The Lions put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 9-3 victory. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Chase Braun was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Hayden Cousin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Brillion's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-10 when he doesn't).

Brillion now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Manitowoc Lutheran, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brillion will be taking part in a tournament against Omro at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manitowoc Lutheran, they will challenge St. Mary Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
