Baseball Preview: Barron Golden Bears vs. Unity Eagles
The Barron Golden Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Unity Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
Barron came up short against Hayward on Tuesday, falling 9-3. The Golden Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Troy McDonough was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Unity, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Ladysmith on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Unity got a massive performance out of Uriah Fugate, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Fugate is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't). Brian Bantz was another key player, earning three runs and four stolen bases.
Barron's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Unity, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
