Basketball Game Preview: Lorain Titans vs. Shaker Heights Red Raiders

Lorain and Shaker Heights are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Lorain Titans will venture away from home to square off against the Shaker Heights Red Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Lorain is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Monday with ease, bagging a 70-39 win over Valley Forge. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Patriots are ranked 740th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Shaker Heights over Euclid in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Shaker Heights blew Euclid out of the water with a 55-14 final score. The Red Raiders pushed the score to 49-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers had no chance of recovering from.

Shaker Heights' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Lorain, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Lorain ended up a good deal behind Shaker Heights in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 50-31. Can Lorain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
