Basketball Game Preview: Tracy Bulldogs vs. Venture Academy Mustangs

Two dominant guards in Maximillian Russell and Kwasi Moses are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Tracy Bulldogs will jump right back in to play the Venture Academy Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tracy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with five straight losses, while Venture Academy will come in with five straight victories.

On Friday, Tracy was beaten by Modesto Christian 81-53. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Crusaders are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, Venture Academy was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past Ben Holt College Prep Academy 84-30. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 33 points or more this season.

Venture Academy pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points over those games. As for Tracy, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Tracy didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Venture Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 61-55 victory. Will Tracy repeat their success, or does Venture Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
