Lyons has gone 4-0 against Metea Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lyons Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Metea Valley Mustangs at 6:00 p.m.

Last Wednesday, Lyons didn't have quite enough to beat Glenbrook South and fell 2-1. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Titans 25-19 in the first period.

Lyons started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-17.

Despite their loss, Lyons saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Julia Ahrens, who had eight digs and two aces, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Ahrens a new career-high in aces.

Meanwhile, Metea Valley entered their tilt with Naperville Central on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Redhawks 2-1.

Metea Valley got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-20, 32-30.

Lyons' defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Metea Valley, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5.

Lyons beat Metea Valley 2-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lyons since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
