Basketball Recap: Taelynn Swartz Key Part of a Team Effort in Bulldogs Win

Centerville's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 46-37 win over the Blackford Bruins.

Centerville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taelynn Swartz, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Those 17 points gave Swartz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Nelson, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points.

Centerville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Several Bruins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adrianna Hall, who posted 13 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Mccammon, who had nine points.

Centerville's record is now 4-9. As for Blackford, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Blue River Valley the next time they take the court. Blackford will host Blue River Valley on Saturday, while Centerville will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
