Despite the defeat, Paw Paw got top-tier performance from Donavan Tanouye, who went 14 of 30 on his way to 38 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. Tanouye's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Carder, who posted 23 points and three steals.
Even though they lost, Paw Paw smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Blacklick Valley had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Hyndman Charter School on Thursday as Blacklick Valley made off with a 54-28 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Vikings just coasted through the last quarter.
Paw Paw better keep an eye on Greg Schilling. He was instrumental in Blacklick Valley's win, going 8 of 19 on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Sheesley, who put up 13 points and seven rebounds.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Paw Paw, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Paw Paw has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.2 rebounds per game.
