Baseball Recap: Mona Shores Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Mona Shores and Caledonia pushed the score to 21-7 the last time they played Caledonia, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Sailors never let the Fighting Scots get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sailors have posted since April 29th.

The result came thanks to Owen Tornga's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hunter Krueger was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Mona Shores' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Caledonia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Mona Shores does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Caledonia, they will square off against South Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Sailors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Fighting Scots surely won't give up without a fight.
