Softball Recap: Belleview Beats Mount Dora for Their Ninth Straight Win

Belleview had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Mount Dora Hurricanes. This was a revenge game for the Rattlers: when they faced off against the Hurricanes back in March, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Ya'Mari Reynolds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Belleview saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Callie Pfriender, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Belleview pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Dora, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Looking ahead, Belleview will take on West Port at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rattlers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolf Pack have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Mount Dora, they will face off against Eustis at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Hurricanes surely won't give up without a fight.
