Recap: Hobbs Eagles vs. Farmington Scorpions
After flying high against the Ferris Yellowjackets last Thursday, the Hobbs Eagles came back down to earth. Hobbs took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Farmington. Hobbs was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Farmington apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.
Despite the loss, Hobbs still got an impressive performance from Abraham Pe?a, who scored 26 points along with three steals. Pe?a continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jairus Turrubiates, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Hobbs struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Cody Vassar-steen was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with nine rebounds for Farmington. That makes it three consecutive games in which Vassar-steen has scored at least a third of Farmington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Beck, who scored six points.
Hobbs' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-6. As for Farmington, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Hobbs and Volcano Vista will face off at 8:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Volcano Vista has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 730 points over their last 11 games. As for Farmington, Farmington and Cleveland will face off at 4:15 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cleveland is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
