Softball Recap: Petal Finds Playoff Glory Versus Harrison Central

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Petal walked away with it. They came out on top against the Harrison Central Red Rebels by a score of 9-6 on Thursday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Red Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jaley Weathersby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Morgan Taylor was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Drinkwine, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Petal's win bumped their record up to 24-9. As for Harrison Central, they now have a losing record of 16-17.

Petal will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Rebels: the pair will be back at it again later today.
