Standley Lake dropped their record down to 11-11 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pomona Panthers. The Gators were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 14-12.

Standley Lake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Casias, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Pomona, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-14. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games.

On Pomona's side, Tyler Dempsey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Dempsey also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Panthers are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-14 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Douglas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Pomona's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 6-3 (and 2-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Maddux Najera, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Standley Lake wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-0 victory against Littleton on the 12th. As for Pomona, they have also already played their next match, a 12-3 win against Westminster on the 12th.
