Basketball Recap: Stevenson Comes Up Short

After soaring to 57 points the game before, Stevenson was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They took a 36-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Moreno Valley Vikings. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Among those leading the charge was Zyetice Hayes, who posted 12 points. Alijah Maloid was another key player, putting up eight points.

Stevenson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Moreno Valley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stevenson will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Watsonville at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. As for Moreno Valley, they will challenge Norte Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Moreno Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
