Baseball Game Preview: Tulpehocken Trojans vs. Oley Valley Lynx

Tulpehocken hasn't had much luck against Oley Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Lynx at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Tulpehocken 4.1, Oley Valley 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

While Tulpehocken's victory against Schuylkill Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Panthers 3-2 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Oley Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Wyomissing. Winning may never get old, but the Lynx sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Timothy Fries was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Petersen, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Fries, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Tulpehocken's record is now 6-4. As for Oley Valley, their record now sits at 7-2.

Tulpehocken might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Oley Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
