Football Game Preview: Hough Huskies vs. South Mecklenburg Sabres + Official Tickets

Hough is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while South Mecklenburg is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Huskies will host the Sabres at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hough's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 66-0 win over Garinger. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Huskies' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Wildcats are ranked 350th).

Ethan Royal continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 177 yards and three TDs while completing 90% of his passes, and also rushing for 30 yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (168.8). Jayden White was another key player, picking up 106 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, South Mecklenburg made easy work of West Mecklenburg last Friday and carried off a 45-20 victory.

South Mecklenburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brody Evans and Amir Gillispie.

Hough's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for South Mecklenburg, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Everything came up roses for Hough against South Mecklenburg in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, as the squad secured a 42-7 win. In that game, the Huskies amassed a halftime lead of 42-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
