Baseball Game Preview: Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets vs. Riverdale Falcons

Cory-Rawson is on an 11-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Riverdale a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Riverdale Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Cory-Rawson fell victim to Botkins and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 9-0.

Meanwhile, Riverdale fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against McComb on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 10-9. Even though they lost, the Falcons' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Evan Reiter made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Cory-Rawson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Riverdale, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cory-Rawson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Riverdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
