Baseball Recap: Church Point Comes Up Short

Church Point fell victim to Kaplan and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Bears' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Waylon Castille spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Church Point saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Venable, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Church Point has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-12 record this season. As for Kaplan, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Church Point will take on Cecilia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kaplan, they will head out on the road to take on Westminster Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
