The Pacifica Christian Tritons are taking a road trip to take on the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Capistrano Valley Christian will be up against a hot Pacifica Christian team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Pacifica Christian put the hurt on The Webb Schools with a sharp 13-1 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Tritons, who have now won three games by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Luke Miller made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Pacifica Christian got a big performance out of John Peterson, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI Peterson has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Scout Escobedo, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.
Pacifica Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Webb Schools only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Capistrano Valley Christian). They never let The Webb Schools get on the board and left with a 21-0 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Pacifica Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, they moved to 7-6 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
Pacifica Christian came up short against Capistrano Valley Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 4-0. Can Pacifica Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
