Baseball Recap: Liberty Takes Down Ranked Green Valley

Liberty faced Green Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Patriots had just enough and edged out the Gators 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since March 19th.

Cayden Rogers-Ramirez looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Liberty let Grant Kelly and Nicholas Blakeney run wild. Kelly scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Blakeney scored two runs while going 4-for-6. Blakeney is becoming a predictor of Liberty's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Neilson, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Liberty moved to 14-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Green Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-10.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-5 victory against Centennial on the 10th. As for Green Valley, they will take on Shadow Ridge at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
