Basketball Recap: Waunakee Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for Waunakee, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Watertown Goslings with a sharp 71-48 win on Friday. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Goslings are ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waunakee pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points over those games. As for Watertown, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.

Looking ahead, Waunakee will head out on the road to challenge Milton at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Milton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Waunakee likes a good challenge. As for Watertown, they will be playing at home against Fort Atkinson at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
