Recap: Calvert Senecas vs. Gibsonburg Golden Bears

The Calvert Senecas struggled with assists on Saturday (the Gibsonburg Golden Bears had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Calvert fell 47-35 to Gibsonburg. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calvert in their matchups with Gibsonburg: they've now lost five in a row.

Several Senecas players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklyn Brown, who scored four points along with two steals and two blocks. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Megan Rombach, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

It was another big night for Elly Evarts, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals for Gibsonburg. Evarts is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jazmyne Morant was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six steals.

Calvert's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Gibsonburg, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Calvert will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Joseph Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Joseph Central Catholic is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Gibsonburg, they will head out on the road to take on Bellevue at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Bellevue is ranked 85th, while Gibsonburg is ranked 109th).
