Basketball Recap: Ridge Community Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Tarique Kennedy and Keymari Coates

Ridge Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 69-59 to the Riverview Sarasota Rams.

Ridge Community's loss came despite strong showings from Keymari Coates and Tarique Kennedy. Coates posted 13 points and five assists, while Kennedy went 6 for 11 on his way to 15 points. Kennedy's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jiovanni Laporte, who put up nine points.

Josh Harris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Riverview Sarasota, shooting 4-for-6 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Harris also racked up five assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rhys Gamble, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards.

Ridge Community's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Riverview Sarasota, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-9.

Ridge Community didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-49 defeat against Auburndale on the 23rd. As for Riverview Sarasota, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 78-64 loss against Calvary Christian on the 20th.
