Basketball Game Preview: Roane County Yellowjackets vs. Sweetwater Wildcats

Roane County and Sweetwater are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Roane County Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Sweetwater Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Roane County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Roane County will head into Monday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 35) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Tellico Plains out 83-81.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Sweetwater faced off against Meigs County on Friday. Sweetwater came out on top against Meigs County by a score of 51-38.

Sweetwater found their leader in sophomore Hunter Daffron, who went 5 of 9 en route to 15 points along with five assists and four steals. Daffron is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nolan Dacus, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Roane County's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.8 points per game. As for Sweetwater, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 11-7.

Everything came up roses for Roane County against Sweetwater when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 78-38 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roane County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
