Softball Recap: Shadow Ridge Has No Trouble Against Valley Vista

Shadow Ridge won the last time they faced Valley Vista and things went their way on Thursday too. The Stallions blew past the Monsoon 26-1. The result was nothing new for the Stallions, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jadyn Scott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, McKayla Ethington was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having also posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Liliana Moreno, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.

Shadow Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Vista, they dropped their record down to 5-17 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Shadow Ridge will host Liberty at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Stallions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Valley Vista, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Mountain Ridge at 6:00 p.m. The Monsoon are facing the Mountain Lions at the right time seeing as the Mountain Lions are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
