Basketball Recap: Quion Andrews' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gray's Creek over Harnett Central

Gray's Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 57-38 to the Harnett Central Trojans. The matchup marked the Bears' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Gray's Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Quion Andrews, who posted 11 points. He also put up a block, which was his first of the season. Deago Smith was another key player, putting up nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harnett Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Shwaikeh, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kemaury Haywood, who put up seven points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Gray's Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Harnett Central, they moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Gray's Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-52 loss against Douglas Byrd on the 5th. Hopefully Harnett Central paid attention to the Bears' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
