Softball Game Preview: McGregor Mercuries vs. Floodwood Polar Bears

McGregor is 7-1 against Floodwood since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Mercuries will host the Polar Bears at 3:30 p.m. McGregor has now lost 11 straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since May 3.

McGregor came up short against Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia] on Monday, falling 25-2.

Meanwhile, Floodwood got themselves on the board against Deer River on Friday, but Deer River never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Polar Bears haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

McGregor's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Floodwood, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

McGregor came out on top in a nail-biter against Floodwood in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 13-11. Will the Mercuries repeat their success, or do the Polar Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
