Basketball Recap: Wabasha-Kellogg Takes a Loss

Wabasha-Kellogg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Lanesboro Burros, falling 55-34. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Burros apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why Wabasha-Kellogg lost, don't look at Annalise Wobbe. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 boards. Wobbe has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Mackenzie Paddock also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Wabasha-Kellogg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. This was only their 11th loss (out of 14 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Wabasha-Kellogg's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Lanesboro, they moved to 8-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Wabasha-Kellogg will head out to square off against Plainview-Elgin-Millville at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lanesboro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lyle/Pacelli at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
