Charlie Taaffe's Big Game Leads Vestavia Hills over Tuscaloosa County

Starting off the list is Vestavia Hills's Charlie Taaffe, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Taaffe rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. He has become a key player for Vestavia Hills: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in October of 2023. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 52 yards.

Christopher ?Cj? Davis produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Hewitt-Trussville to the win on Friday. ?Cj? Davis rushed for 73 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.

This season, ?Cj? Davis has averaged 20.9 receiving yards per game.

On Friday, Thompson had to settle for second even though Trenton Cheatom put up the best numbers he has all season. Cheatom wasn't messing around, picking up a sack and making 13 total tackles (3.0 for loss). The matchup was his fifth straight with eight or more total tackles.
