Baseball Game Preview: Lehighton Indians vs. Bangor Slaters

The Lehighton Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Bangor Slaters at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lehighton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.7 runs per game this season.

Lehighton will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Moravian Academy on Thursday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jayse Lawrence was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Cody Snyder was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brady Stubits was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Lehighton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Bangor scored first but ultimately less than Salisbury Township in their contest on Friday. They fell 12-7 to the Falcons. The Slaters have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nolan Koza was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. That run marked the first that he scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Farensbach, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Bangor's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6-1. As for Lehighton, their record now sits at 8-1.
