Lakewood had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They secured a 26-20 W over the North Duplin Rebels on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Leopards as they're now sitting on five straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reed Ammons, who threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes. The dominant performance gave Ammons a new career-high in passing yards. Lakewood also got a significant boost from Calvin Lacewell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 104 yards.

When it comes to explaining why North Duplin lost, don't look at Carell Phillips. Despite the final result, he rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns. Phillips is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.

Lakewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.1 points per game. As for North Duplin, with the defeat, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-1.

Lakewood has already played their next matchup, a 36-17 loss against Wilson Prep on the 6th. North Duplin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
