Baseball Recap: UIC College Prep Falls Short of Muchin College Prep in the Playoffs

UIC College Prep and Muchin College Prep squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but UIC College Prep had to settle for second. They fell 10-5 to the Mountain Lions. The Firecats just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Wyatt Jones was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Khalil Taylor and Sebastian Camarillo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Taylor went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Camarillo went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Anthony Ayala also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

UIC College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Muchin College Prep, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Looking ahead, UIC College Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Juarez at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Muchin College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
