The St. Anselm's Abbey Panthers will challenge the Berman Hebrew Academy Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Anselm's Abbey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
St. Anselm's Abbey took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Sandy Spring Friends, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Wildebeests on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Alex McCuaig made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. Anselm's Abbey is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-3 otherwise. McCuaig was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jesse Webb, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Berman Hebrew Academy scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sandy Spring Friends. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Berman Hebrew Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Lichtman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
The victory got St. Anselm's Abbey back to even at 4-4. As for Berman Hebrew Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Anselm's Abbey has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Berman Hebrew Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
