Baseball Recap: Mt. Markham Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mt. Markham had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Westmoreland Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly seven runs.

Jacob Donely made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Donely was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Owen Jones was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamison Young, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Mt. Markham's victory bumped their record up to 7-4-1. As for Westmoreland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Mt. Markham will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
