Soccer Game Preview: Hickory vs. South Point

The Hickory Tornadoes will square off against the South Point Red Raiders on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Hickory sitting on seven straight victories and South Point on 12.

Hickory is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand East Lincoln a 2-0 shutout.

Val Bravo and Piper Jillings scored both of Hickory's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 70 goals.

Five must be South Point's lucky number: they beat Northwest Cabarrus with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Red Raiders put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 5-1 win. The result was nothing new for South Point, who have now won 22 contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Hickory's victory bumped their record up to 21-1-1. As for South Point, their win bumped their record up to 24-2-1.

Hickory couldn't quite get it done against South Point when the teams last played back in May of 2025 as they fell 2-0. Can the Tornadoes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
