Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is North Laurel's 14th in Last 15 Outings

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but North Laurel ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Estill County Engineers 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jaguars have posted since April 26th.

Emma Carl made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Sams, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Saige McClure was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

North Laurel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Estill County only managed three hits.

North Laurel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-2-1 record this season. As for Estill County, they moved to 17-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Laurel will take on Leslie County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Estill County, they will square off against Rockcastle County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
