Softball Recap: Cambria Heights Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four games, Cambria Heights finally came back down to earth on Monday. They fell 3-0 to the Marion Center Stingers. The defeat continues a trend for the Highlanders in their meetings with the Stingers: they've now lost three in a row.

Cambria Heights got a good showing from Rylee Lane, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lane has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

Cambria Heights' loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Marion Center, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, Cambria Heights will take on Penn Cambria at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.5 runs per game on average), something the Highlanders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marion Center, they will square off against Conemaugh Township at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Stingers are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
