Softball Recap: Concordia Lutheran Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Concordia Lutheran had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the St. Pius X Panthers by a score of 10-6. For the Crusaders, this counts as revenge for the 6-0 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Emily Rivera and Faith Keiper made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Rivera pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. Meanwhile, Keiper tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rivera scored two runs while going 1-for-4, while Keiper scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Keiper has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makenna Salas, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Taryn Ward, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Concordia Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Concordia Lutheran now has a winning record of 5-4-1. As for St. Pius X, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Concordia Lutheran will take on rival Incarnate Word Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Pius X is set to face off against their familiar foe St. Agnes Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
