Baseball Recap: DuVal Tigers vs. Parkdale Panthers
DuVal extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-10. They came up short against the Parkdale Panthers, falling 19-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-6 back in March.
As for Parkdale, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4-1 record this season. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Parkdale's part, Gio Velasquez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Velasquez was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Josue Herrera and James Edmond did most of the damage at the plate: Herrera got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Edmond got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Edmond has become a key player for Parkdale: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4-1 otherwise. Ulises Lucero was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Coincidentally, DuVal and Parkdale will both be playing High Point the next time they take the field. The Tigers will head out to face the Eagles on Friday, while the Panthers will head out to face them on Monday.
