Baseball Game Preview: Maple Hill Wildcats vs. Greenwich Witches

The Maple Hill Wildcats will head out to square off against the Greenwich Witches at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maple Hill's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Greenwich's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Maple Hill is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since May 11, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Hudson by a score of 4-2. The Wildcats have struggled against the Bluehawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

While Greenwich didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They never let Stillwater get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Wednesday. The contest marked the Witches' most dominant victory of the season so far.

The win made it two in a row for Greenwich and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Maple Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Maple Hill came out on top in a nail-biter against Greenwich in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
